The HDC teaches students to understand their human dignity and the dignity of others.

Curriculum Themes

Primary

Grades K-8

Themes discussed in grades K-8 include:

Secondary

Grades 9-12

High school content, Grades 9-12, addresses the themes listed above, while also focusing on historical violations of human dignity and stories of the heroes who fought against these human rights abuses.

Grade 9  examines violations of human dignity, such as slavery and racism.

Heroes: Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr, Mahatma Gandhi

Grade 10 explores human dignity as the foundation of human rights and looks at violations of human dignity in World War II and the Holocaust.

Heroes: Sophie Scholl, Viktor Frankl

Grade 11 advances human dignity as the necessary foundation of every political community and examines totalitarian political systems in relation to the human person.

Heroes: Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Elena and Andrei Sakharov

Grade 12
examines contemporary and historical human rights violations in international population policies and analyses sustainable development through a lens of human dignity.
